The Career Office of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Career Office of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka, was established in July 2021 as part of the PerPeTuUm aGile project (https://perpetuumagile.uniri.hr/), funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) under the Operational Programme Efficient Human Resources 2014–2020. The project aimed to enhance existing models of professional practice and develop new ones within the Faculty’s study programmes.

Today, the Career Office serves as a central link between students, alumni, employers, and the academic community. Its activities are aimed at enhancing graduate employability, expanding professional practice opportunities and strengthening students’ career competencies. Through the continuous development of a network of professional practice partners, close collaboration with employers, the organisation of workshops, lectures, career fairs, and individual career counselling, as well as the monitoring of graduate employability and labour market needs, the Office actively contributes to improving the quality of education and supporting students in their transition from higher education to the labour market.

Since its establishment, the Career Office has initiated approximately 60 cooperation agreements with employers, organised almost 40 workshops, lectures, and other educational activities involving nearly 900 participants, established a systematic framework for monitoring graduate employability and employer satisfaction, and implemented numerous initiatives aimed at promoting professional practice and strengthening students’ career competencies.

One of the Career Office’s most significant achievements is its role in the KOMPAS FFRI ESF+ project, jointly implemented by the Academic Support Office and the Career Office. The project is designed to further strengthen the Faculty’s professional practice system and student support services. It was approved under the call Improving Employability through Professional Practice in Higher Education within the Efficient Human Resources Programme 2021–2027, with a 36-month implementation period from 24 June 2026 to 24 June 2029. The total project budget amounts to €328,336.42 and is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (85%) and the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia (15%).

The Gallery provides a chronological overview of the Career Office’s activities since its establishment, accompanied by photographs and information about the events held. It reflects the Office’s continuous development, its cooperation with numerous partners from the public, private and civil society sectors, and its ongoing commitment to enhancing the employability and professional competencies of the Faculty’s students.
