About the Programme

Students will acquire expert knowledge in particular philosophical areas/disciplines. The programme trains candidates to be able to carry out independent research, which includes being able to write original contributions in the written form, as well as participate in contemporary discussions in the candidate’s field of research interest.

From a theoretical perspective, the programme is primarily analytically oriented. The areas of specialisation focus on contemporary philosophical problems and recent debates. By taking this focus students can follow and participate in the most up-to-date research projects. The participation of renowned guest lecturers and leading experts further guarantees that doctoral candidates will be able to engage in contemporary and relevant philosophical research.

Competences acquired and possibilities for employment

Upon completion of the programme, students will obtain a PhD in philosophy, which demonstrates that they have specialist knowledge about a specific scientific field within the humanities, and the proven ability to carry out original scientific research. They will have acquired the following competences:

  • To be able to independently prepare and teach classes in professional and undergraduate study programmes in the fields or interdisciplinary areas that they qualified in on their doctoral study programme,
  • Possess advanced knowledge of the literature and problems in their specific field of interest, and the ability to design and carry out a scientific research project, publish research results and present these results to other scholars.
  • To be able to participate in the most demanding areas public life that require advanced qualifications (media, publishing activity, development strategy, etc.),

Graduates can primarily find employment in higher education (public and private sector), in scientific research institutes (both institutes that focus on philosophy and those of an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary character), in the most demanding segments of pre-university education (especially in the private sector), and in development programmes in the public and private sectors.
