Employment possibilities | After completing the M.Ed. study programme, students will have acquired the skills to work in schools, engage in editorial work, literary-critical work, editing and proofreading, as well work in journalism, protocol work, cultural management, and public relations, etc. |

STYLISTICS OF THE CONTEMPORARY CROATIAN STANDARD LANGUAGE | 1. Analyse different communication contexts and use stylistic adaptations of general stylistic standards in concrete communication. 2. Analyse a scientific and/or professional text in terms of its formal language features, structure, and organisation. 3. Examine the relationship between different discourse types and standard language norms, and recognise permissible deviations from these norms, interpreting them in terms of the author’s communicative goals. 4. Demonstrate the ability to create spoken and written texts that respect the given stylistic standards of the expressive medium. |
LINGUISTIC HERITAGE IN THE TEACHING OF CROATIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE | 1. Interpret and evaluate selected representative works in the Chakavian, Kajkavian and Shtokavian dialects in contemporary Croatian literature, and critically review selected dialectal literature in contemporary Croatian language reading primers for primary schools. 2. Explain the role of regional language in pupils’ communication competencies. 3. Critically assess the methodology of analysing texts from earlier periods of the Croatian language in elementary and high school textbooks about the Croatian language. |
LITERARY THEORY | 1. Interpret literary theoretical studies from Russian formalism to new media theories and theories of new genre systems. 2. Interpret a literary template by applying different interpretative paradigms. |
CROATIAN AND GLOBAL LITERATURE | 1. Provide an historical overview of global literature for children and young people, which systematises phases and periods, types and dominant themes, and singles out significant works and authors in global literature. 2. Interpret basic readings in Croatian literature for children and young people. 3. Analyse, interpret and compare literary texts and approach them as anthropological documents. 4. Integrate the analysis of literary texts of Croatian literature with acquired knowledge from other humanities and some social disciplines 5. Define synchronic and diachronic aspects of changes in the relationship between literature and society. |
COURSES IN TEACHING METHODS | 1. Employ basic methodological terminology in the teaching of Croatian language and literature. 2. Select and design procedures and activities that develop pupils’ language skills and refer to listening, speaking, reading, and writing strategies 3. Employ basic procedures when preparing oral interpretations of a literary text. 4. Analytically and critically consider, as well as adequately use the procedures of scientific and pedagogic interpretation. 5. Analyse and evaluate pupils’ progress in the acquisition of communicative language competences. 6. Compile and select appropriate teaching materials, teaching methods and procedures, teaching resources and aids, as well as social forms of work. 7. Describe how everyday stories can be used in the work of Croatian language and literature teachers. 8. Prepare and participate in all forms of linguistic and literary education, especially when conducting regular classes in the teaching of the Croatian language in primary and secondary schools. |
WRITING METHODOLOGY FOR THE MASTER’S THESIS | 1. Carry out scientific or professional research about the Croatian language and literature. 2. Write a scientific or professional paper according to the standards for writing scientific and professional papers in the humanities. |
