Employment possibilities | After completing the M.Ed. study programme, students will have acquired the skills to work in schools, editorial work, literary-critical work, editing and proofreading, as well working in journalism, protocol work, cultural management, and public relations, etc. |

THEORY OF LANGUAGE AND CONTEMPORARY STANDARD CROATIAN LANGUAGE | 1. Correctly interpret the concepts and settings of recent linguistic theories. 2. Compare and combine contemporary and traditional approaches to methodology when describing and analysing linguistic phenomena, from the level of the individual speaker to the level of society. 3. Recognise and explain the features of different discourses and/or functional styles of Croatian standard language and substandard varieties. 4. Edit and proofread texts according to appropriate linguistic norms (spelling and grammar). |
DIACHRONIC GROUP OF LANGUAGE COURSES | 1. Identify the linguistic and stylistic features of Croatian printed and manuscript texts from all periods. 2. Independently and correctly interpret grammatical rules in older Croatian grammars. 3. Define diachronic and synchronic interpretations of units and inventory of accent systems of Croatian language dialects and accent typology. 4. Outline the role of Croatian dialect texts in a particular abstract system. |
LITERARY THEORY | 1. Explain literature as a subject of theory. 2. Know the historical development of literary theoretical concepts. 3. Define the relationship between concepts in different directions of literary theory. 4. Understand the position of literary theory in the teaching of literature. 5. Recognise the variety of approaches to literary texts. |
CROATIAN AND GLOBAL LITERATURE | 1. Interpret the expressive, subject, thematic and structural features of works created in a particular literary-historical period or works from the literary works of an individual writer from Croatian and global literature 2. Explain and analyse poetic, social-cultural, constructive, and thematic-motive changes throughout the history of prose/drama/poetry in general, prose/drama/poetry in a particular area, and prose/drama/poetry in an individual author’s works or literary phenomena from Croatian or global literature. 3. Apply, compare, and combine contemporary and traditional methodologies in the study of literature when making an independent analysis of works from a selected period, thematic area, or the works of an individual writer within Croatian or global literature. 4. Define, compare, interpret, and critically evaluate themes/periods/poetics/literary works of individual writers, works, themes or phenomena from Croatian and global literature. |
METHODOLOGICAL COURSES | 1. Plan and prepare teaching and extracurricular activities in the teaching of Croatian language and literature, in accordance with contemporary theories of language and literary education. 2. Specify and apply procedures that encourage and develop linguistic and literary abilities, skills, and knowledge; As well, determine the evaluation criteria (monitoring, checking and evaluation) for all kinds of language and literary education, with a particular focus on the evaluation of pupil composition. 3. Describe and explain the functional involvement of language activities in the realization of all contents of the Croatian language school subject. 4. List and apply the components of pupils’ language development, especially those related to pupils’ vocabulary, reading and writing, and distinguish between theories of language learning and teaching. 5. Prepare and participate in all forms of linguistic and literary education, especially when conducting regular classes in teaching the Croatian language in primary and secondary schools. |
