THE CONCEPT OF CULTURE | 1. Demonstrate and explain the concept of culture and its inconsistency in language and literature. 2. Classify different cultural theories. 3. Define and explain media culture, distinguish, and describe its main features. 4. Define the concepts of intercultural and transcultural communication. 5. Compare and define emerging forms of popular culture. |
GERMAN-SPEAKING CULTURE AND INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE | 1. Define and explain key (literary, linguistic and cultural) terms from German-speaking cultures and Croatian culture. 2. Define Croatian-German cultural links (in language, literature, and from a socio-historical perspective). 3. Compare media and language communication in German-speaking cultures and in Croatian culture. 4. Describe typical cultural patterns in German-speaking regions, from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives, with a particular focus on literature, language, and media. |
LINGUISTICS FOR GERMANISTS | 1. Show the interrelationship between already adopted general linguistic concepts and contemporary trends in research. 2. Explain the interrelationship between already adopted general linguistic concepts and contemporary research trends in the fields of pragmalinguistics, sociolinguistics, cognitive and text linguistics. 3. Recognize the importance of different cultural patterns in intercultural communication. |
METHODOLOGY FOR TEACHING GERMAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE | 1. Correctly interpret primary methodological and glottodidactic concepts. 2. Describe and interpret the different theories, approaches, and methods in teaching German as a foreign language. 3. Select and create appropriate teaching materials for teaching the German language. 4. Apply the appropriate techniques for checking and (self) evaluation of student achievement. 5. Plan, prepare and teach German language lessons in primary and secondary schools. 6. Determine the appropriateness of certain methodological approaches in German language teaching for the target group. |
CONTEMPORARY GERMAN LANGUAGE | 1. Use knowledge of the German language at the C2 level 2. Formulate, describe, and explain the German language system 3. Distinguish the characteristics of national varieties of the German language |
Students are expected to acquire a level of knowledge of the German language in speaking, writing, and understanding at the C2 level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference). |
