Macedonian Language Lectorate

About the Lectorate:
The Macedonian Language Lectorate at the Department of Croatian Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest Macedonian language lectorate in the world. It was founded in 2008/2009 by Professor Emeritus Goran Kalogjera. Dr. Vasil Tocinovski worked as the first Lector of the Macedonian language for six years, and was replaced by Ana Azeska M.Sc. The current Lector is Biljana Stojanovska, M.Sc.
The Lectorate carries out teaching, scientific and publishing activities. It offers a large number of elective courses in the Macedonian language, literature and culture in undergraduate and graduate study programmes in Croatian Language and Literature and in the Translation Studies postgraduate programme.
Each year the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences awards scholarships to students and academic staff to participate in the Summer School for Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture in Ohrid and the Winter School for Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture of the International Seminar for Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje.
It closely collaborates with the Macedonian cultural society “Ilinden”, which is based in Rijeka, and with the Macedonian Cultural and Information Centre in Zagreb. More about the work of the Lectorate can be found in the following interview in Novi List.
Polish Language Lectorate

About the Lectorate:
Since 2000, the Polish Language Lectorate has been working at the Department of Croatian Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka. The Lectorate offers students the opportunity to learn the Polish language over a course of eight semesters, starting from the second semester of the first year of the undergraduate study programme. In addition to language courses, the following courses Polish Literature in the 19th and 20th Centuries, Polish Culture and Civilisation, and Polish Cinematography are taught on the graduate study programmes. The Polish language course for translators is offered for four semesters on the graduate programme of Translation Studies of the Department of Croatian Studies.
About the Lifelong Education Programme “Contemporary Poland: Language and Culture”:
Lector Agnieszka Rudkowska is the Head of the lifelong education programme “Contemporary Poland: Language and Culture”, which is offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The programme is open to all adults, and since it is held online anyone based in Croatia can participate. Participants learn the Polish language from levels A1 to C2, and also about Polish culture. The programme starts in the second half of October, lasts for one year, and takes place once a week for ninety minutes. After passing the exam, participants receive a certificate to confirm the level of acquired knowledge. The programme offers 5 ECTS credits.

Slovenian Language Lectorate

About the Lectorate:
The Slovenian Language Lectorate was officially opened on October 24th, 2018 as an elective course for students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka.
The Lectorate offers the elective courses Slovenian Language 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the Croatian Language and Literature undergraduate study programme.
Every year students at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, in cooperation with the Centre for the Slovenian Language as a Second and Foreign Language (Centre for Slovenian as a Second and Foreign Language, University of Ljubljana) are awarded scholarships to participate in the summer seminar on Slovenian language, literature and culture at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ljubljana.
The Lectorate works closely with the Association of Slovenian Societies in Croatia, whose headquarters are in Rijeka, and the Slovenian Home of the KPD “Bazovica”.
