THEORY OF LANGUAGE AND CONTEMPORARY STANDARD CROATIAN | 1. Apply primary linguistic concepts. 2. Present all levels of grammatical description. 3. Apply linguistic norms in standard Croatian at all language levels, in both written and oral texts of all functional styles and discourse types. 4. Analyse deviations from the linguistic norms in standard Croatian at all language levels, in both written and oral texts of all functional styles and discourse types. 5. DIACHRONIC GROUP OF LANGUAGE COURSES | 1. Apply basic terminology related to the research of the Old Slavic language, diachronic linguistics, the history of Croatian literary language, and dialectology. 2. Interpret the circumstances and genesis of the first Slavic literary language and Slavic scripts. 3. Analyse the linguistic and stylistic characteristics of texts written in Old Church Slavic canon. 4. Distinguish between linguistic features in contemporary Croatian language systems with respect to their degree of conservatism or innovativeness. 5. Explain the process of the standardisation of the Croatian language in all stages of its development. 6. Distinguish between the Chakavian, Kajkavian and Shtokavian dialects. 7. Describe the characteristics of dialects in the Croatian language at the diachronic and synchronic levels. |
LITERARY THEORY | 1. Apply foundational terminology from literary theory. 2. Interpret the structural characteristics of the literary genre and the key concepts used in its analysis. 3. Outline the theoretical and historical validity of terminological issues as instruments of systematic and explained perspectives on literary texts. 4. Critically evaluate the poetic status of literary forms in different literary periods and systems. |
STYLISTICS | 1. Apply basic terminology and theoretical knowledge from stylistics when analysing and evaluating texts of different discursive types. 2. Analyse literary texts using literary and discourse stylistic methodology. 3. Recognise and determine at what linguistic levels the stylogenicity of a particular text is realised. 4. Critically determine and evaluate media discourse using the methodological apparatus of critical and feminist stylistics. |
CROATIAN AND GLOBAL LITERATURE | 1. Apply basic terminology related to the study of Croatian and global literature in all periods and styles. 2. Present and show significant authors, works and oeuvres of Croatian and global literature. 3. Analyse and interpret the poetic, stylistic, genre, authorial and reception characteristics of representative works of Croatian and global literature of all periods and styles. 4. Compare Croatian and global literature from all periods and styles. 5. Show the correlations between works of global literature with other artistic, scientific, economic, political, social, and general cultural content. 6. Explain the relationship between literature and the other arts in the formation of culture. |
ORAL LITERATURE | 1. Apply the basic terminology related to the study of Croatian oral literature. 2. Analyse and interpret oral literary genres in representative and anthological examples of Croatian oral literary texts. 3. Compare different types of oral literary texts within the genre system and their thematic-motive, structural and stylistic features using examples of Croatian and global oral literature. 4. Critically evaluate the connections between an oral literary text and its customary, mythological, religious, and socio-historical context(s). |
