THEORY OF LANGUAGE AND CONTEMPORARY STANDARD CROATIAN | 1. Apply primary linguistic concepts. 2. Analyse texts and language units at the phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexicological levels and correctly use professional terminology. 3. Summarise and critically evaluate the processes of orthographic and grammatical standardisation, as well as the dynamic relationship between linguistic norms and practice. 4. Apply the acquired knowledge to harmonise texts using the norms of Croatian standard language (spelling and grammar). |
DIACHRONIC GROUP OF LANGUAGE COURSES | 1. Define the fundamental principles of language disciplines: Paleo-Slavic studies, historical grammar, history of Croatian literary language and Croatian dialectology, and explain the terms used within these disciplines. 2. Interpret the genesis of the Slavic languages from Proto-Slavic, especially the Old Slavic language, the genesis of Croatian dialects and Croatian literacy. 3. Interpret the grammatical structure of the Old Slavic language, the development of the phonological and morphological systems, as well as other selected features of the Croatian language, interpret diachronic and synchronic readings of linguistic features in Croatian language dialects, the relationships between these dialects during the process of standardising the Croatian language, as well as evaluating processes of standardization. 4. Independently identify and interpret the linguistic and stylistic features of Old Church Slavic canon, Croatian texts from different time periods, functional styles from the Middle Ages to the 19th century and differentiate between various language levels when determining a system of dialect texts. |
LITERARY THEORY | 1. Explain the concept of literary theory in a diachronic and synchronic context. 2. Master the fundamentals of literary theory conceptual apparatus. 3. Know the primary concepts in different branches of literary theory. 4. Define the problem of literary genres. 5. Know the fundamentals of literary periodisation. 6. Apply theoretical concepts to concrete literary texts. |
STYLISTICS | 1. Define and explain the concepts of style and stylistics in a diachronic and synchronic context. 2. Master the foundations of the metalanguage of stylistics. 3. Know the features of different stylistic schools and directions and explain their theses. 4. Recognise stylistic features at all textual levels and correctly interpret them with regards to content and genre. 5. Using the knowledge acquired from the courses interpret and analyse literary models. |
CROATIAN AND GLOBAL LITERATURE | 1. Define and analyse fundamental concepts in a diachronic set of literary works up to the present day in both Croatian and global literature, and literature for children and young adults, while correctly using professional terminology. 2. Define and recognise the historical literary features and stylistic characteristics of different periods in Croatian and global literature, as well as the literary features and stylistic characteristics in literature for children and young adults. 3. Interpret and explain expressive, subject headings and structural characteristics of works created within different literary periods of Croatian and global literature. 4. Apply the acquired historical, theoretical, and critical literary parameters in an independent analysis of works from Croatian and global literature. 5. Compare works from Croatian literature and relate them to the literary tradition and works of a given period in global literature |
ORAL LITERATURE AND FOLKLORE STUDIES | 1. Apply knowledge about the theory of oral literature and folklore in the presentation of Croatian cultural assets. 2. Explain the importance of intangible cultural heritage and the place of Croatian traditions on the UNESCO list of intangible protected assets. 3. Determine the synchronic and diachronic connections between the wider cultural context, different oral literary genres, and artistic literature. |
