Outline the developmental trajectory of the historical sciences and historical methodology to contemporary audiences, and also explain the need for history. 2. Distinguish between history as a science and history as a socio-political and general cultural requirement. 3. Explain, differentiate, evaluate, and classify the recognition of significant figures from political and socio-cultural life in history. 4. Enumerate, define, and describe basic concepts and problems in particular historical periods. 5. Describe and explain the historical geography of individual European regions and specific narrower micro and macro geographical areas. |
METHODOLOGY, PROCESSING OF HISTORICAL MATERIALS AND INTRODUCTION TO ACADEMIC RESEARCH | 1. Explain and employ historical theories and methodologies that are used in the research of various historical events and processes. 2. Identify, define, and explain the primary concepts and issues of certain periods in European and national history. 3. Recognise and critically analyse qualitative, especially cultural-historical, approaches when researching historical periods and topics, and critically analyse historical sources. 4. Explain and demonstrate the methodologies of auxiliary historical sciences and employ their primary skills and applications in practice, separate and distinguish between conserved original data from subsequent interpretations and critically use them in future research or when teaching history. 5. Employ the methodologies used in the research of different historical topics, independently use the literature and secondary sources to write a final dissertation. |
APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND PROBLEMS OF HISTORICAL INTERPRETATION | 1. Recognise and explain the foundations of the political, social, and economic development of individual societies and countries throughout historical periods. 2. Critically, consistently, and using reasoned argument, compare and interpret different historical themes and processes from political, military, economic, social, religious, and intellectual history from different periods of European and national history, drawing out their interdependency and connectedness, and based on this, make conclusions about history, respecting the general differences between geographical and cultural areas. 3. Define, describe, explain the dynamics and differences of social, economic, cultural, and political processes using a synthetic and analytical approach to explain certain events and processes, using information about new technological and scientific achievements, cultural processes, and societal developments. 4. Critically interpret specific historical processes and offer reasoned conclusions within the wider European spectrum. 5. Use structural knowledge about the state, economy, and society in European countries throughout history. |
CULTURAL DISCOURSES, RELIGIOUS AND PHILOSOPHICAL GIVENS OF HISTORICAL PERIODS | 1. Describe and explain the primary features of philosophical teachings and schools throughout history and explain and compare the underlying reasoning for individual interpretations about the origins of the world and human activity. 2. Relate major contemporary philosophical theories and problems with the theories and problems that were of interest to Christian medieval philosophers and theologians. 3. Define the primary concepts of social and religious history and compare them in different European communities. 4. Identify the processes underlying the development of the Catholic Church and define the main themes of the Church’s relationship with the social changes of the modern era, especially regarding the issues of the relationship between the Holy See and the countries, and the ideologies that characterized the 19th and 20th centuries. 5. Identify primary forms of knowledge about the social, cultural spheres, entertainment, and social life in different historical periods. |
