The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Rijeka and the Department of Philosophy are pleased to announce the twelfth edition of the Summer School on Equality and Citizenship, which will take place from 15 to 19 June 2026 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka, Croatia.

The Summer School brings together doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and scholars interested in political philosophy, democracy, citizenship, equality, and related fields of contemporary political and social theory. Over the years, it has established itself as an important international forum for intellectual exchange between early-career researchers and leading scholars in the field.

Rather than replicating the conventional format of a university course, the Summer School is organized around Author-Meets-Critics Symposia, devoted to distinguished authors’ publications and works-in-progress, as well as scientific workshops, focused discussions, and collaborative sessions on topics related to equality and citizenship.

The keynote speakers for the 2026 edition are:

Paul Billingham (University of Oxford)
Valentina Gentile (LUISS Rome)
José Luis Martí (Universitat Pompeu Fabra)
Robert Talisse (Vanderbilt University)
Chris Ranalli (VU Amsterdam)

The full programme is available here. The programme offers an excellent opportunity to engage with internationally recognized scholars, exchange ideas with peers, and contribute to ongoing discussions in contemporary political philosophy.
